Help me find Virgil: William Virgil Hubbard  married Nancy Margaret Edwards, b 1898 on  29 Dec, 1923 in Wilkes County, Georgia.  Marriage ceremony performed by F.G. Hartman.  Virgil was the first husband of my grandmother, Nancy Margaret Edwards.  She is in the 1930 Census up in Hickory, NC and is listed as divorced. There were no children of the marriage that I know of.   She  supposedly remarried my grandfather, Thomas Fritz Matherly around 1931 but  strangely I can find no record on their marriage to each other. This makes me wonder did they just lived together as husband and wife, and raised a family together?  It also makes me question whether there was in fact a divorce from Virgil.  It was always a mystery and something grandma didn't talk about.  I can find NO trace of Virgil either before or after the marriage.  Did he take off and abandon her?  Did he commit a crime and go to prison?  Did he die? What happened to Virgil???
